Tree-Climbing: Introduction

Then, when someone recalls, tree-climbing, in our minds, tree climbing is:

• a childhood memories, where we climbed anywhere without fear.
• When we climbed back there, we found new perspectives when we are on top of tree.

Nowadays, tree-climbing is one of recreational outdoor activities, which is suitable for everyone, with proper session and safety. Tree-climbing consists climbing & walking (branching) using proper safety equipment such as rope,saddle, helmet etc.

HISTORY OF TREE-CLIMBING

In North-America, an arborist climbed & worked on tree before late 19th. They are picking the seed on top of branches, or cutting any trunks, if it's found 'sick' or old. 

In 1983, Peter “Treemen” Jenkins is person to responsible to change tree-works to became
recreational outdoor activities. He founded Tree Climbers International (TCI) in Atlanta, USA.

TREE-CLIMBING IN MALAYSIA

In Malaysia, the organization responsible for arborists are Malaysian Society of Arborists (PArM). This organizations are certified by International Society of
Arboriculture (ISA) and located in FRIM, Kepong, Malaysia.

For higher institution: Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) took part as researcher of arboriculture, and involves with.

And for an organization, only two are fully involved & bring tree-climbing moves forward in Malaysia, which is:

• Tree Climbers Malaysia

• Awan Adventure Team

OBJECTIVES

The objectives is same as mentioned above:

• To ensures safety procedures are taken during climbing
• Respects the nature, either for fun-climbing, outdoor recreational sport or arboriculture works.
• Sharing the knowledge & experience
• Lesson for everyone to love nature, especially trees & other flora & fauna.

'WHERE ADVENTURE BEGINS'

AAT Family Day (Jan 24th - 25th, 2015)

Previously, we had our 2nd Family Day at Merapoh, Pahang Darul Makmur. Almost all of caves here has been explored by us, but we eager to find something new, here. 

And, yeah, it's worth it..!!!

0745 – Gather at SGI Merapoh
0800 – Breakfast & Lunch-packing
0900 – Went to Gua Pasir Besar (Cave Photography)
1600 – Went to Gua Kubang Rusa (Cave Tubing)
1730 – Back to Guest House
2100 - BBQ & Karaoke session at SGI
2330 – Lights Off

Day 2 (25/1/15)

0800 – Breakfast & Lunck-packing
0900 – Went to Taman Negara Sg Relau
0930 – Went to Menara Pandang
1000 - Jungle Treking
1100 – Reached waterfall
1200 - cascading
1500 – Back to Guest House
1600 – Self-preparation
1700 - Check Out
1730 – Gather SGI
1800 – Good Bye..!!!

About AAT

AAT has been established on April 20^th, 2011. Started as a small & private group, its establishment is happened, due of eagerness of small outdoor person to enhance their knowledge in any outdoor sites, sharing it & despite to unite whole outdoor community in Malaysia. Their outdoor passion is undeniable, since every one of them is capable in their expertise.

AAT at Tree-Climbing Competition Demonstration, Malaysia.

This family-themed group always been encourages & asked to manage an extraordinary event. From a small events, the step getting bigger by attending & organizing a big-scale event, which includes collboration from other country, such as Brazil, Singapore, Japan, Tunisia, Germany, Italy an more, soon.  The event has been participated by Malaysian & non-Malaysian, as well. The biggest achievement is the invitation to Cave Conference in Republic Czech, organized Malaysian 1st Tree-Climbing Gathering & Malaysian 1st Cavers Gathering, in malaysia. Their capability continues, & slowly, AAT gained their name, not only in Malaysia, but AAT been known globally.

The challenges increased in 2015. Soon, AAt will involve in more worldwide exhibition, to expose everyone about the beauty of Malaysia, and to bring Malaysian outdoor moves to professional & stand; walking tall all around the world.
